The Claims Event
The Claims Event will replace the Claims Club Annual Conference as the flagship event for Post Magazine’s Claims Club. The only Claims Club event open to non-members, it will provide a unique opportunity for suppliers to the claims fraternity to discuss, debate and instigate change.

RCN/SOM joint conference and exhibition
Building upon the RCNSOHN/SOM conference held in Cardiff in 2007, this event will provide a further opportunity to share best collaborative multidisciplinary practice. All professions concerned with Occupational Health are encouraged to attend this event which will include Clinical Leadership and Influencing Skills; Models of Best Practice; Clinical Updates and progress upon OH initiatives arising from the Black Report.

CMSUK Annual Conference/ AGM 2010
This two- day conference themed 'Back to Basics' will focus on Brachial Plexus and Shoulder injuries, and will be of interest to anyone accessing rehabilitation for personal injury clients. Jul 21, 2010 - Sainsbury Centre becomes Centre for Mental Health
As from today, the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health will be known as the Centre for Mental Health. Despite the change of name, the work, values and approach of the Centre will remain the same. The new website address is http://www.centreformentalhealth.org.uk

The UKRC is pleased to announce that it will be holding a joint one-day conference with the British Standards Institute (BSI) in London. The event will cover various aspects of rehabilitation and provide participants with an opportunity to discuss and debate key issues. Jul 12, 2010 - UKRC submission on Health and Safety and the 'compensation culture'
Former Cabinet minister Lord Young has been appointed by Prime Minister David Cameron to undertake a review of the operation of health and safety and the growth of the 'compensation culture'. Lord Young's report to the Prime Minister is expected in summer, and will investigate concerns over the application and perception of health and safety legislation.

Impact on Depression, the workplace mental health programme, has recently been launched by the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health. Based on Australia's highly-successful beyondblue National Workplace Programme, Impact on Depression raises awareness of anxiety and depression at work.

Jun 09, 2010 - RCGP Health and Work Training Workshops
The Royal College of General Practitioners has attracted over 2,000 GPs to the National Education Programme Health and Work in General Practice. The workshops are Chaired by a local leader and delivered by a RCGP trained GP and specialist Occupational Health Physician.
May 07, 2010 - PAS 150 Code of Practice - now available for purchase
PAS 150 (Publicly Available Specification) is a landmark new code of practice for the delivery of rehabilitation services for all disabilities and health conditions. This code of practice, drawn up by BSI and the UKRC, is primarily for providers of rehabilitation services but may also interest and benefit purchasers and anyone using these services.
May 07, 2010 - Student Bursaries on offer for VRA 2010 Conference
The Vocational Rehabilitation Association is offering ten student bursaries, each worth over £250, for students looking for a career in vocational/ occupational rehabilitation. The bursary will provide support for them to attend the VRA 2010 conference, which will be held from 30 June - 1 July at the University of Nottingham.

May 05, 2010 - UKRC Stakeholder Event 2009 DVD now available
The DVD of the UKRC Stakeholder Event held in July 2009 is now available. Sessions at this event covered a wide range of topics including the origin of the UKRC, its role and activities, UKRC membership and Council Board structure.
Apr 30, 2010 - PAS 150 - Groundbreaking specification for rehabilitation service providers is launched
BSI, UK Rehabilitation Council, and Department for Business Innovation and Skills launch a groundbreaking new specification for the provision of rehabilitation services.
Launching today, PAS 150 (Publicly Available Specification) is a landmark new code of practice for the delivery of rehabilitation services for all disabilities and health conditions, with both short- and long-term needs.
Apr 28, 2010 - Roll-out of NAPT 2010 Audit
The roll-out of the 2010 National Audit of Psychological Therapies for people suffering from anxiety and depression in England and Wales begins in May. The audit aims to promote Access, Appropriateness, Acceptability and positive treatment Outcomes. All services are invited to participate. Read more about the Audit here.

The 6th Rehabilitation First Awards ceremony will be held in London on 25 June. Nominations from individuals and companies for this year's Awards are sought - the deadline for entries is Friday 14 May. Find out more here.

BICMA, the Bodily Injury Claims Management Association, announced today that after fifteen years at the helm Norman Cottington was standing down from his position as president. In his place BICMA had unanimously elected Bob Rabbitts. Read the full press release below.

The UKRC has invited the three main political parties, including Plaid Cymru and SNP, to outline their plans for improving rehabilitation. The UKRC intends to post responses on this website on 21 April without comment so that readers and members can decide.

Mar 06, 2010 - Fit Note to replace Sick Note
The new Fit Note will be introduced in the UK on 6 April 2010. Commenting on the Fit note, Dr. Bill Gunnyeon, Chief Medical Adviser to the DWP, said: "the new form will enable doctors to advise a patient whether they can return to work if supported by their employer. The change is driven by evidence that work is therapeutic and helps promote recovery and rehabilitation ..." For more read here.

UKRC and VRA welcome the recent government paper “Working together for a healthier tomorrow, a review by Dame Carol Black”, and especially its commitment to vocational rehabilitation. Whilst we strongly support the document’s overall aims, we would like to clear up confusion about the respective roles of the UKRC and VRA that appears in the government response. In particular the Vocation Rehabilitation Council (referred to on page 109 of response below) does not exist.
