Disability Resilience Network

Philip Connelly of RNIB is pleased to be able to invite you to the second meeting of the Disability Resilience network on June 13th from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. The meeting will take place at RNIB's Camden Studios, Academic House, 24-28 Oval Rd,Camden, London NW1 7DJ 0207 424 4100

The meeting will focus upon a bid to create a social media presence along similar lines to tumblr so that people can post video and audio clips of the adaptations and coping strategies they have made in response to their impairments. This will allow newly diagnosed disabled people to learn from others who have gone before them. It will foster peer to peer learning and facilitate the emergence of groups on such issues as access to new treatments, consumer groups on personal budgets, campaign groups against inaccessible practices, on-line user groups to test new products for accessibility, mentoring around obtaining and retaining jobs etc etc. Resilience will be a key psychology underpinning the project.

Philip will shortly be sending out a draft of the bid with a request for you to conduct consultation amongst disabled contacts, users, members etc and bring this feedback back into this meeting.

If you are interesting in participating and/or attending the meeting please contact Philip directly via philip.connolly@rnib.org.uk and he will forward to you the draft bid and an Agenda for the meeting.
